New Year's Eve with a dog at
Hotel Grimming "dogs & friends"
New Year's Eve in the city is an unpleasant topic for almost every dog owner. Even if the dog is bulletproof, a fear can develop due to an unfortunate situation. That's why we like to spend the turn of the year outside of Vienna.
This year our spontaneous choice was the Hotel Grimming in Rauris. Actually, we had the idea of a quiet, secluded village and were then slightly surprised by the strong tourism in this area. Rauris has its own ski lifts and also offers countless other possibilities for leisure activities.
The Grimming Hotel specialises in dogs. Dogs stay there "all inclusive". The room is equipped with a basket, food and water bowl. The welcome treat consisted of different kinds of biscuits. The dining area is really well thought out. It is spacious so that dogs are never in the way of the service and also have enough distance from each other. But what we liked best was the dog area. It offers a lot of space for romping around and the possibility to separate several areas means that you can also work with your dog off to the side or separate a pack. A very nice idea was the punch and mulled wine stand directly at the dog area for free consumption. Dog zone visits should always be this cosy. And this was indeed our first mulled wine together outdoors this year.
New Year's Eve was then celebrated directly at the dog park. We were very unsure whether this was a good idea for Ronja. She doesn't have any problems with the noise on New Year's Eve, but she is generally rather nervous. The place is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. We were able to cover the distance with lots of distraction and play. Directly at the dog park, however, she was blissfully happy. Running around with other dogs at midnight - she must have thought that was really cool. All the noise and fireworks were quickly forgotten.
It was a very nice, wintry few days in Rauris. We will certainly come in summer too.
