Holiday with dog at Gut Feuerschwendt
This year we tried out the Gutshotel Feuerschwendt in the Bavarian Forest with Ronja. The estate is located in Neukirchen vorm Wald near Passau in the Ilz Valley. Even though the hotel does not officially bear the title "dog hotel", it is perfectly equipped for the needs of our four-legged friends. From the welcome treats to the basket and water bowl in the apartment, everything is provided. The whole area is 430,000m² (that's about 40 football fields!) and thus offers plenty of space to play and go for walks. In addition, there is a fenced and covered dog training area with lots of equipment such as a seesaw, bridge, tunnel or hurdles. The training area can be used free of charge around the clock. However, there is no demarcated dog exercise area. There is hardly any road traffic, but dogs with a hunting instinct will quickly find a trail there.
Besides the dogs, there are many other animals on the estate. On the one hand, there are the Rottal horses. The owner Karl Degenhart runs a horse breeding farm there to preserve this highly endangered breed of domestic animal. Then there is Karla, a very dear donkey with whom Ronja made friends during our stay. You can also "borrow" Karla to take her for a walk, but we didn't get very far! And let's not forget the cats, who are mainly to be found at the reception. Ronja quickly made it clear to us that she doesn't like cats that much...
We stayed in one of the bungalows. They offer a lot of space and are nicely furnished. The feeling of living in your own little house is quite different from living in a hotel. The horses and Karla grazed directly in front of the window, the training ground was right in front of the door and the restaurant was only a few steps away. Dogs are welcome in the restaurant. For BARFers, it is still good to know that the fridge has a large freezer compartment. All in all, we liked it so much that we spontaneously decided to come back over New Year's Eve, but unfortunately everything was already fully booked.
