Canicross Mountain Race "Run to the Sun"

On 30. 4. the first "Run to the Sun" mountain run took place in Dreistetten. Together with LaufHundeSport Verein, Heidi Dögl organized a Canicross dog run in addition to the classic mountain run. It was the first event in Austria to organize a mountain run and a carnicross mountain run together. The route led from the parish hall in Dreistetten over an idyllic forest road up to the Hohe Wand to the Herrgottschnitzerhaus at an altitude of 850 meters. A distance of 5km and about 330 meters of altitude were covered.

Unfortunately, it started to rain right on time for the start, which didn't exactly make conditions easier for both the runners and me as a photographer. Due to the bad weather, the otherwise breathtaking panorama from the Herrgottschnitzerhaus over the Piestingtal valley, the Vienna Basin and the Vienna Alps was also rather shrouded in fog.

The runners were actively supported on the course by the Dreistetten volunteer fire department, which also organized the return transport from the finish back to the start. Afterwards the award ceremony took place in the parish hall with many proud winners.

 
Finally, some impressions of the brave athletes and their four-legged companions. The rain and the rapidly falling temperatures demanded the utmost from all participants.
