Now it's official, the D800 has arrived!
My D300 is now almost 4 years old. For some time now I have been thinking about switching to a camera with a full-frame sensor. The only affordable candidate from Nikon is the D700, but technically it is almost as old as my D300. Since the switch is not really urgent, I just wanted to wait until the successor to the D700 came out. Now it's here, but then again it's not. I wanted a camera with a moderate pixel count, but good performance at high ISO values. The D800 is the exact opposite. 36 megapixels with an ISO range of 100 to 6400, expandable to 25600, which are purely academic values, though. And a maximum of 4 frames per second. Even Nikon says that the D800 is not a successor to the D700. Considering the price of almost 3000 euros, the camera doesn't seem very tempting to me. Now I am at a loss for what to do. I will have to wait for the tests and then decide whether the camera convinces me...
